We have known Julie different roles over many years.
Julie assists Ian in his capacities as a Family Mediator and as a Children Law Arbitrator.
Whilst Ian is qualified and able to see children to find out their wishes and feelings to assist mediation, we have taken the view that someone other than the mediator undertakes this task.
Who better to do this than an experienced former CAFCASS Officer/Social Worker?
Julie is also able to undertake this important task in support of Arbitration.
Julie is a registered social worker with over thirty years of social work experience, having been both a practitioner and a manager. She has managed a Safeguarding Team, a Learning Disability Team, a Fostering Team and was latterly was a Cafcass Service Manager.
Julie spent five years as a partner in a social work consultancy business completing parenting assessments for the courts. She has also managed a large residential unit for adolescents with severe emotional and behavioural difficulties. On leaving Cafcass Julie continued to work as a self-employed Guardian and Independent Social Worker assessing both adults and children.
Julie is a level 2 Theraplay practitioner. In this capacity she has worked with children with complex issues.
Throughout her career Julie has been involved in training and staff development. She has a particular interest in the Mental Capacity Act, parents with a learning disability and the impact of domestic abuse on children. She has written and delivered training extensively in the subject area of child sexual abuse and exploitation.
