I am an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives ’within the Children Law Team at Ian Walker Family Law and Mediation Solicitors.

I have always been fascinated by the law, and had been a paralegal for six years before I began my legal training (five years ago). I had always seen myself in a career that would enable me to indulge in my love of reading, whilst also offering an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those that I work with, so law seemed like the perfect fit!

Prior to my move to the South West I was living and working in London, with civil liberties specialists Deighton Pierce Glynn. I have also undertaken stints in clinical negligence and dispute resolution.

The thing I love most about working in the Children Law Team here is that no two days are ever the same. It can be hard and sometimes upsetting, but good results make it all worthwhile.

All being well, I will finish my studies in January 2021 and qualify one year later. I’m very much looking forward to continuing to support those in care proceedings for many years after that!

In my spare time you can find me out on Dartmoor with my Labrador, Ozzy, or caring for my retired horse, Anakin.

I am also a member of Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team (Ashburton), and when I am not at work, I can respond to callouts to assist those who are lost, missing or injured on or around Dartmoor.

I am a keen runner, and predictably do most of my training up on the moor too! Back in October, a search and rescue teammate and I undertook a marathon across the moor to raise vital funds for Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team (Ashburton), and we were thrilled to raise just under £1000.
