Elle is a Solicitor specialising in children law cases.
What is my role with Ian Walker Family Law and Mediation Solicitors?
I am a Solicitor working in the Private Children Department at Ian Walker Family Law and Mediation, assisting both private paying and legal aid clients.
My professional background
I obtained a First Class Law Degree from the University of Greenwich in 2017, before working as a Paralegal at Everys Solicitors. After 6 months of working as a Paralegal, I was offered a Training Contract and began studying my LPC part-time with the University of Law at Exeter University in 2018. Whilst undertaking my LPC on the weekends,
I completed my Training Contract full-time. After obtaining a distinction in my LPC, I qualified as a Solicitor on 1st October 2020 and joined Ian Walker Family Law and Mediation in February 2021.
What I most enjoy about my role
I love that everyday is always different – different clients with completely different circumstances. However, all clients have at least two things in common:
- Bravery – for speaking up and seeking advice; and
- Experiencing potentially the most painful, unsettling, and stressful time in their life.
My job is incredible rewarding as I assist and guide my clients through this difficult time, giving them the advice they need to work towards resolving the issues in question.

Why I chose a career in the law
I had always been interested in Law, but as a first-generation A-Level and University student, I really didn’t know where to begin. However, with the right support from my Sixth-Form tutor (and an inspirational trip to the Supreme Court of the United States in 2013 – see picture!) and lots of hard work, I began my journey towards a career in law in 2014.
Whilst at University, I was given the opportunity to assist Litigants in Person at the East London Family Court at the University’s help desk. This is when I first realised I wanted to become a Family Law Solicitor.
My career highlight/career ambitions
Working with our very own Kris Seed on a very complex matter whereby the Legal Aid Agency were ordered to reimburse a hefty sum of our client’s costs. After lengthy appeal proceedings, I was able to argue for and secure a sum above the amount initially ordered. Our client was very happy with the outcome and was able to move on with their life.
My career ambition is to simply continue helping as many clients as possible. If I can assist you at all, please do not hesitate to contact me.
A tip that I can give to prospective clients
It can often be overwhelming when you’re suddenly asked to explain why you’re seeking legal advice, so prior to the meeting, I would advise writing down some bullet point notes of:
- Why you’re seeking help – i.e. what has happened and the current arrangements/circumstances;
- Important information – i.e. dates and brief details of events that you feel are significant;
- Any questions you may have; and
- If you’re seeking Legal Aid, information regarding your finances (rough figures for your monthly income, savings and assets)
What I enjoy doing in my spare time
I am an avid gym-goer and enjoy weight lifting. I am a keen footballer, having played football since the age of 7 for my local football team and Exeter City. I am a book worm at heart, but with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier Puppy and two Cockapoo’s, I don’t have as much time to read as I would like.
Something that I have done in my spare time of which I am very proud
I was a London Ambassador during the 2012 Olympics. Only 16 years old at the time, (and 14 at the time of applying), I was one of 30,000 applicants – but only 3,000 of us got the job! See picture of little Elle in the very snazzy London Ambassador uniform.
